Arthur Knapper:


Born 16 Dec 1890

Arthur volunteered for the army in WW1 31 August 1914, he was discharged 20th October 1914 as medically unfit due to Flat Feet. Arthur was 5 feet 6 inches in height and weighed 144 lbs (10 stone 4 lbs), complexion fresh, eyes blue and hair brown. His trade or calling was listed as Fustian Cutter, his wife Martha Ann was next of kin living at 35 Spring Street Congleton. Original records on Ancestry website, he seems to have been a reservist until final discharge on 31st January 1919.

Family members remember that this was a large family thought to have been poor. Witness's at marriage Herbert Hall and Harriett Brittain. Living at 10 Brunswick Street when married, Alice living at 49 Spindle Street.
